LEWISTON, Maine -- The Bates College women's tennis team fell to visiting Wesleyan University at the Wallach Tennis Center on Saturday, 7-2.
Bates won at first doubles, with the All-NESCAC duo of Cecilia Grissa (Doylestown, Pa.) and Laura Harris (Mercer Island, Wash.) defeating the Cardinals' Madelena Ursu and Anika Fischer 8-6, and at second doubles, with Caryn Benisch (Huntington, N.Y.) and Alexandra Piacquad (Yardley, Pa.) downing Rachael Ghorbani and Emily Fich by an 8-4 score. But Wesleyan swept Bates (1-1) en route to the win.
The Bobcats will host Babson on Oct. 12 at 4 p.m.
