WATERVILLE, Maine -- Meg Coffin scored a career-high 24 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and had three steals and two blocks as the Bates College women's basketball team defeated Colby College 62-52 in a non-league game Wednesday night.

Coffin (Westford, Mass.) shot 10-for-16 from the floor and 4-for-7 at the free throw line in superseding her previous best output, a 23-point effort against Trinity College on Feb. 12, 2005. It was also the highest point total by a Bates player since Olivia Zurek '05 netted 24 in that same game.

Matia Kostakis (Andover, Mass.) added nine points, 11 rebounds and five assists for Bates (7-5), which earned its third straight win. Jackie Powers (Andover, Mass.) scored 11 points.

Katie McCabe led Colby (4-6) with 13 points. Lauren Duval added 11 points and Regina Wohl had team highs of seven rebounds and four assists.

Colby shot 55.6 percent in the first half en route to a 33-30 lead at intermission. After some back-and-forth to start the second half, the Bobcats seized the lead for good on Coffin's layup with 15:19 left in the game.

Bates shot only 34.4 percent in field goals to Colby's 46.0, but had a big edge over the White Mules at the free throw line, hitting 15-of-19 foul shots to Colby's 2-for-5.

The Bobcats return home to play Simmons College in a non-league game Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Alumni Gymnasium.
