WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The red-hot Bates College women's basketball team suddenly went cold on Saturday, losing for the first time in nine games 69-48 at NESCAC rival Williams.

The Bobcats (12-6, 3-1 NESCAC) shot only 29.4 percent from the floor as Williams avenged a 78-64 non-league loss against Bates in its own tournament on Dec. 4.

Meghan O'Malley poured in 29 points on 11-of-18 shooting and snagged 10 rebounds for the Ephs (15-3, 3-1 NESCAC), and Maggie Miller added 21 on 9-of-14 shooting to go with nine rebounds. Meghan Stetson had nine points and six rebounds off the bench.

The Ephs shot only 1-for-13 behind the arc, but were 25-for-44 (.568) on two-point field goal attempts.

Bates sophomore Matia Kostakis (Andover, Mass.) scored a team-high 12 points on 5-of-18 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds. Junior Meg Coffin (Westford, Mass.) was the only other Bobcat in double digits, with 10 points on 4-of-11 shooting and a game-high 13 rebounds.

Bates plays at Connecticut College (5-10, 0-3) Friday at 7 p.m., before taking on NESCAC leader Wesleyan (12-3, 4-0) on Saturday.
