LEWISTON, Maine – Jasmine McDavid (Brooklyn, N.Y./Choate Rosemary) had 10 kills in a 3-0 (30-22, 30-22, 30-25) loss to Bowdoin this evening.
Katie Graeff (Chevy Chase, MD/Maret School) led the team with 23 assists in the contest as the team fell to 3-9 overall, 0-2 in conference play. Bowdoin improves to 8-3 on the season and 1-1 in the NESCAC.
Bates jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead in the first game, but Bowdoin gained control to make an evenly matched contest. The Polar Bears broke open with a eight-point lead, that the Bobcats could not recover, to win the game 30-22.
In the second game the Polar Bears took a 9-1 lead, which they never relinquished. Bates clawed their way back to try and close the gap at 20-25, but Bowdoin recaptured another eight-point lead for a 30-22 win.
The third game was similar to the first with a tight score throughout. The Bobcats did not let the lead get out of reach, keeping the game within three for much of the game. The Polar Bears put the game away at 28-23 and earned the win with a score of 30-25.
Lauren Gold (Sacramento, CA/Hotchkiss) recorded 10 digs and Matia Kostakis added seven kills for the Bobcats.
Bates will host the Bates Invitational Friday and Saturday with play beginning Friday at 4 p.m.
