SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- A win over Mount Holyoke College ended the Bates College volleyball team's weekend at the 2005 Volleyball Hall of Fame Tournament with a 1-3 record.
Playing in the consolation bracket of the 16-team tournament after losses to MIT and Endicott College on Friday, the Bobcats lost in four games to Gordon College, 30-20, 28-30, 19-30 and 26-30, before downing the host Lyons 30-20, 30-18, 19-30 and 30-20.
Jasmine McDavid (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the way for Bates against Mt. Holyoke with 13 kills, while first-year Katherine Dexter chipped in with nine kills and 19 digs. Setter Katie Graeff (Chevy Chase, Md.) dished out 30 assists and eight digs, and Lauren Gold (Sacramento, Calif.) made 14 digs.
Senior Liz Santy (Farmington, Conn.) had a big game against Gordon, with 11 kills and 10 digs. Sophomore Matia Kostakis (Andover, Mass.) led the Bobcats with 12 kills. Gold had 15 digs, while Graeff had 34 assists and nine digs.
Bates (6-21, 1-6 NESCAC) plays at NESCAC Weekend starting Oct. 28 at Williams College.
