LEWISTON, Maine -- Amherst College's volleyball team defeated host Bates College in straight sets at Alumni Gymnasium on Sunday, 30-21, 30-15, 30-28.
Amherst (12-7, 4-5 NESCAC) rebounded from its 3-1 loss at Tufts University on Saturday.
Bates was unable to find enough continuity over the course of the afternoon to capitalize on its momentum heading into the match. The Bobcats defeated Bowdoin on Friday.
Bates senior Jasmine McDavid (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had 12 kills in the match, to go with two blocks. Setter Katie Graeff (Chevy Chase, Md.) had 26 assists, while senior Liz Santy (Farmington, Conn.) had 13 digs and eight kills.
The Bobcats (5-17, 1-5) will face Colby College (23-2, 6-0), the No. 1-ranked team in New England, Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Alumni Gymnasium.
