Cory turned in a NESCAC Championships to remember, winning four conference titles while shattering records at every turn.
It all started on Friday, when Cory teamed up with first-year Nate Oppenheim, sophomore John Weigel, and junior Marrich Somridhivej to set a new Middlebury pool record with an NCAA "B" cut time of 1:20.56, capturing the NESCAC championship in the 200 free relay over runner-up Williams (1:20.91). Their time was also good for a new Bates record in the event, and Cory's opening split of 19.66 seconds tied his school record in the 50-yard freestyle. The Bobcats had never won a NESCAC title in a relay until Friday.
Cory wasn't done collecting hardware, as he won the NESCAC title in the 50-yard freestyle with an NCAA "B" cut time of 19.81 seconds in the championship final.
He also teamed up with sophomore Tim Johnson, Somridhivej, and Oppenheim, to earn All-NESCAC honors in the 400-yard medley relay by finishing in second place with a school-record and NCAA "B" cut time of 3:14.37.
Then on Saturday, Cory anchored the Bates 200-yard medley relay, and recorded a split of 18.59 seconds, which is believed to be the fastest 50-free split in NCAA Division III history. Official records of relay splits are only kept if the swimmer is leading off the relay, as those who follow get a chance to time their start, as opposed to reacting to the starter. The Bobcats took second place overall in the event, with Johnson, Somridhivej, Weigel, and Cory combining for an NCAA 'B' Cut time of 1:27.24, setting a new Bates record along the way.
He capped off his weekend in record-breaking fashion on Sunday, breaking the NESCAC record in the 100-yard freestyle in the morning prelims, racing to the finish in an NCAA 'A' Cut time of 43.20 seconds. Cory then had no problem taking home his second individual NESCAC title of the meet, winning the championship final in 43.55 seconds.
Then he won his FOURTH NESCAC title overall of the meet, teaming with Oppenheim, Johnson, and Weigel to win the 400-yard freestyle relay in a Bates and a pool record NCAA 'B' Cut time of 2:57.42.
