Senior Robby Griffin was a standout performer for Bates at the UMASS Commonwealth Invitational, taking second place in the 400 meters in 49.39 seconds, the ninth fastest time in program history. He was part of the runner-up 4x100 relay team, which also consisted of senior Derek Shen, sophomore Kevin O'Connor, and senior captain Colby Stakun-Pickering. They raced to the finish in 42.20 seconds, the second-best mark in program history.
Griffin completed his trifecta of strong performances by helping the 4x400 relay team, featuring sophomore Truman Williams, first-year Evan Migdole, and senior Peter Ackley move into seventh on the Bates all-time performance list in 3:19.34, good for second-place on Saturday.
