Bates women's golf first-year Rebecca Kriegsman led the entire field through 18 holes at the Williams Fall Invitational, eventually finishing in fifth place out of 74 competitors to pace the Bobcats over the weekend at Taconic Golf Club.
Kriegsman shot a 71 on Saturday, good for even par and a spot at the top of the leaderboard. With a shotgun start, she began the tournament at hole 17, a par three that she birdied both days. She followed that up with a birdie on the par-five 18th hole, putting Kriegsman at two under par. Three bogeys on the front nine left her at one over par before Kriegsman went birdie-bogey-birdie on the 10th through 12th holes, getting back to even par. That's where she finished after a birdie on the 14th and a bogey on 16, leaving her two strokes ahead of the nearest competitor.
On Sunday, Kriegman tallied four birdies on her way to a 78. She finished at seven over par, good for fifth place and five strokes back of medalist honors.
