Senior captain Garrett Johnson earned All-State honors with his ninth-place individual finish at the Maine State Men’s Golf Championship this weekend leading the Bobcats to a fifth-place team finish.
Johnson scored a 155 over the two-day event concluding the championship with the ninth best total out of 55 golfers. The Lexington, Mass., resident shot a five-over-par 76 on Sunday racking up 12 pars and a birdie. The previous day, Johnson shot a 79 including three birdies.
A Lexington High School product, Johnson teamed with first-year Brad Rutkin to become Bates’ first All-State duo since 2008. Rutkin recorded a two-day score of 156 to tie for tenth place at the event.
The Bobcats and Johnson next compete at the Husson Invitational from Sept. 21-22.
