Junior linebacker Josh Freedland intercepted a Williams pass in the end zone with three seconds left to seal the Bobcats’ 14-10 win over the Ephs on Saturday to earn Bobcat of the Week honors for the week of Sept. 30-Oct. 6.

The Marblehead, Mass., product recorded his second career interception on the play to round out a defensive performance that included his first two career sacks. He also notched five tackles (four solo), a forced fumble, and a pass breakup in Bates’ third consecutive victory over Williams. On the season, Freedland has totaled 12 tackles (seven solo) including three tackles for loss.

Freedland and the Bobcat defense held Williams to 1 of 13 on third down conversions (8 percent) and limited Eph QB Tom Murphy to a 35.1 completion percentage on 13 of 37 passing.

Bates returns to action on Saturday at 1 p.m. when the team travels to Middletown, Conn., to take on undefeated Wesleyan.
