First-year Ahmed Hatata won four straight matches at the College Squash Association Individual Championships this past weekend to earn 17th place and a likely spot as a CSA All-American, taking home Bobcat of the Week honors for the week of Feb. 24 to Mar. 2.

Playing in the Pool Division – the top bracket at the championships – the Alexandria, Egypt, native outplayed his initial ranking of 24th and finished his rookie season with a 21-4 record.

After falling to Princeton’s Tyler Osborne 11-7, 12-10, 11-4 in the Round of 32, Hatata bounced back later in the day on Friday, beating Cole Osborne of Franklin & Marshall, 12-10, 7-11, 11-8, 11-8.

The NESCAC Rookie of the Year won both of his matches on Saturday with a 7-11, 11-3, 11-9, 11-3 victory over Amherst’s Noah Browne and a 9-11, 2-11, 13-11, 11-8, 11-5 comeback win over Juan Vargas of Trinity.

A First Team All-NESCAC honoree, Hatata defeated Franklin & Marshall’s Mauricio Sedano in the First Round Consolation bracket title match, 10-12, 11-7, 11-8, 11-8 on Sunday.
