Connor Speed (San Diego, Calif.) threw seven innings of two-hit baseball Saturday morning to pick up the win over Tufts University in Saturday’s elimination game at the NESCAC Baseball Championships held at Holman Stadium in Nashua, N.H. over the weekend.

Speed, making his first playoff appearance was perfect through the first two innings and kept the Jumbos hitless through the first four frames, as the offense responded with eight runs behind his effort. Cody McCallum got to the right hander for the first hit of the game in the top of the fifth, a one-out double to right field. James Howard followed with the only other hit of the day off of speed, chasing home McCallum with the only run of the day against the first-year.

Speed stuck out eight and walked three in his seven innings of work, allowing just the one run on two hits for his second win of the season.
