Bates first-year James Jones (Colorado Springs, Colo.) led the Bobcats with a fourth-place time of 26:19.7 at the Bates Super XC Shootout Saturday at Pineland Farms.
Host Bates won the event in a field of four teams, three of whom are ranked among the top 10 in New England.
Bates led the way with 115 points, followed by No. 18 nationally ranked Tufts (171), WPI (196) and the University of Southern Maine (397).
