Bates field hockey junior captain forward Paige Cote was named first team All-NESCAC on Tuesday, after an outstanding season that saw Cote lead the conference in assists.
Cote (Auburn, Maine) dished out 13 assists on the season, currently tied for sixth in the country, and two shy of the Bates record for assists in one season of 15, set by Sandi Korpela '77 in 1976. Cote's 23 career assists are the most in Bates field hockey history. She surpassed Julia Price '03 in the record books with one full season still remaining in Cote's collegiate career.
Cote also scored six goals this year, giving her 25 points on the season, second on the team and tied for eighth in the NESCAC. She scored three game-winning goals, including game-winning tallies against conference foes Connecticut College and Colby.
This is the first All-NESCAC honor of Cote's career. It marks the fifth straight year the Bobcats have had a player named to one of the all-conference teams. However, Cote is the first Bates field hockey player since Katie McEnroe '11 in 2008 to earn first team honors.
Bates finished the year ranked 20th in the country, going 9-7 overall and 5-5 in NESCAC action. The Bobcats posted their fourth winning season in the past six years.
