Sophomore Taylor Lough scored less than two minutes into overtime to give the Bates field hockey team a 3-2 road victory over No. 8 nationally ranked Babson Wednesday night at MacDowell Field. 

She also recorded an assist on the Bobcats' first goal of the game in the 10th minute of action. The Bobcats earned a penalty corner opportunity and sophomore Adah Lindquist (Wayne, Pa.) found Lough who blasted a shot that deflected right to junior Sydney Beres (New York, N.Y.). Beres delivered off the deflection for her third goal of the season and the fourth of her career. Lough's assist marks her sixth of the year, tops on the team and tied for fifth in the NESCAC.

In overtime, for the third straight period, Lough took the first shot. This time, in the 72nd minute of action, her shot went in, giving Lough the game-winner and her third goal of the season.

The victory marks the second straight overtime victory for Bates and their third consecutive win overall.

The Bobcats' seven wins this year matches their win total from last season. Bates hosts Southern Maine Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. on Campus Avenue Field. An eighth win would mark their most victories in one season since they won 11 games in 1999.
