Senior forward Matt DiVite (Murray Hill, N.J.) paced the Bobcat attack in their 3-2 overtime victory Saturday over No. 15 nationally ranked Middlebury, scoring two goals.
DiVite entered his senior season having scored one goal over his three seasons as a Bobcat. He now ranks second on the team with five goals this year, including three over his previous two matches.
With Bates down 1-0 in the 35th minute, DiVite blasted a shot from 25 yards out off a loose ball and it knuckled into the top right corner of the net for the equalizer.
The Bobcats took the first three shots of the second half, with DiVite connecting yet again in the 57th minute.
Following a foul call on the Panthers, senior captain Luke McNabb (Glastonbury, Conn.) delivered a cross off a free kick from deep. DiVite was able to redirect it with his head into the back of the net for the go-ahead score.
Middlebury tied it up late, but an overtime goal from senior forward Peabo Knoth (Portland, Maine) gave Bates the victory.
