The Bates volleyball team's 3-0 week was sparked in part by junior captain Jacqueline Forney (Bloomington, Ind.) who tallied 45 assists against Hamilton on Friday and followed that up with a career-high 50 assists on Saturday in the Bobcats' 3-1 (25-11, 25-15, 16-25, 25-17) victory over Middlebury.
Bates started the week with a 3-0 (25-5, 25-7, 25-6) win over Husson in non-conference action. Forney finished with 19 assists, five service aces, five digs and a kill in that match.
Then she upped her game in Bates' 3-0 (25-20, 25-13, 26-24) victory over Hamilton on Friday. Forney's 45 assists helped senior Chandler McGrath tally 20 kills, including the 1,000th of her career in the victory.
On Saturday, Bates beat the Middlebury Panthers for the first time since 2003. It's their fifth NESCAC victory of the season, their most in one year since 2003 as well.
Forney saved her best for last with the career-high 50 assists to go along with 16 digs and two kills.
The Bobcats have a rematch with Middlebury in the NESCAC Tournament Friday at 5:00 p.m. at Tufts University.
