Senior captain Zach Magin (West Hartford, Conn.) led Bates with a sixth-place finish out of 235 individuals overall at the Saratoga Invitational on Saturday. Magin covered the 8-kilometer course at Saratoga Spa State Park in 25:40.3.

The No. 21 nationally ranked Bates men's cross country team placed second out of 16 teams and kept it close against seventh-ranked RPI. 

RPI scored 37 points, followed by Bates with 54. Vassar finished third with 116 points.

Bates will next race in the Maine State Championships, taking place at Bowdoin with a 2:30 start for the men's race.
