Coyne (Falmouth, Maine) turned in perhaps the best week of his collegiate career to help Bates go 2-1 against Husson, Bowdoin and Colby.
Coyne finished with 17 points, five rebounds and two assists in the Bobcats' 88-74 victory over the Eagles on Tuesday. He scored 14 of his 17 points in the second half, including a huge three late to seal the win.
Then on Thursday, Coyne led Bates with 22 points and nine rebounds, as well as a team-high three assists at Bowdoin.
He saved his best performance for last, pouring in a career-high 30 points and the Bobcats rallied in the second half to defeat Colby 82-79 Saturday afternoon.
With 3:30 to go in the game and the score tied at 70, Coyne hit a three to give Bates the lead for good. He then drained another three with 2:26 remaining, extending the Bates advantage to 76-70. Coyne hit 11 of 16 shots, including six of eight from three to go along with a team-high six rebounds in the win.
Coyne is second on the team in scoring so far through seven games, averaging 16 points per contest.
