Senior Katherine Cook shattered Bates' indoor record in the 5,000-meter run with the seventh-fastest time in Division III history, highlighting a day of career-best performances by members of the Bates women's track and field team Friday at the BU John Thomas Terrier Classic.

Cook finished the 5,000-meter run in 16:39.07, winning her section and shaving 40.17 seconds off of the former team record time of 17:19.24, set by Abigail Anthony in 2001.

With the meet being open to all college and post-collegiate amateurs, 2017 Bates grad and five-time All-American Jessica Wilson ran a time of 16:19.45 in a different section from Cook's -- Wilson's time was second only to Syracuse's Shannon Malone (16:13.07).
