Junior Hannah West placed 11th in the women's slalom and 17th among collegiate skiers in the giant slalom at the Harvard Carnival, leading the Bates women's alpine skiing team in both events.

On Friday, West submitted runs of 49.85 and 53.93 seconds in the slalom for a combined time of 1:43.78, 11th-fastest among 75 collegiate women racing, tying for her best career carnival finish.

Then on Saturday, West led the Bates women for the second straight day, placing 17th among collegiate skiers and 18th overall with a two-run combined time of 2:15.42 in the giant slalom, earning 25 carnival points and 14 NCAA points.

The Bates women's and men's alpine skiing teams combined with the Nordic teams to score 420 points overall, good for sixth place among 15 schools, placing ahead of the likes of Williams, Bowdoin and Harvard. 

The Bates alpine skiing teams head to Stowe Mountain Resort this upcoming Friday and Saturday for the UVM Carnival.
