First-year Jackson Hayes caught three passes for a career-high 63 yards and scored his first collegiate touchdown in the football team's game at Middlebury on Saturday. The Bobcats put up 34 points, their most in one game since 2014.

Down 28-13, Bates took advantage of a Middlebury turnover early in the fourth quarter when sophomore quarterback Brenda Costa found Hayes wide open down the middle for a 49-yard touchdown pass. The drive was set up by an interception by senior captain Joe Frake at the Middlebury 49-yard line.

Through six games, Hayes has 13 catches for 145 yards and a touchdown. He's also contributed in the return game, averaging 17.5 yards per kick return.
