Junior James Jones (Colorado Springs, Colo.) captured Second Team All-NESCAC honors with his eighth-place finish among 150 runners overall at the NESCAC Championships. Jones, the 2016 NESCAC Rookie of the Year (he finished fourth that year), covered the 8-kilometer course at Franklin Park in 25:56.6.

The Bates men's cross country team produced its finest effort of the season Saturday, defying their No. 8 seeding to finish fourth out of 11 teams.

"It was a great day for us, beating three nationally ranked teams and [finishing] not terribly behind three top 15 teams," head coach Al Fereshetian said. "James looked great and competed at the front of the field all day. Overall an excellent team performance."
