Hughes refused to lose, tallying 21 points on 7-12 shooting and grabbing eight rebounds Saturday in an 80-68 win over Amherst in the NESCAC semifinal for the Bates women's basketball team. She followed that up with a season and game-high 24 points on 7-9 shooting, securing seven rebounds and recording two steals in Sunday's 61-56 victory over Bowdoin in the NESCAC championship game. Hughes matched her season-high with four made three-pointers in five attempts as the Bobcats shot 60 percent from long range in the game. With the pair of wins, Bates clinches the second NESCAC title in program history.
