Sophomore Preston Haugh tied with three others for 20th place out of 61 players to lead the Bates men's golf team to ninth place out of 12 teams at the conclusion of the two-day Bowdoin Invitational Sunday.

Haugh (Alexandria, Va.) shot a 5-over-par 77 on both days of the tournament, finishing at 154 to tie with Sam Funderberg of Colby, Rio Holzwarth of Providence and Kenny Tuttle of Endicott. Haugh shot three birdies in a row in first-day action on Saturday, between the 15th and 17th holes; on Sunday, he came back to eagle the par-5 16th hole.
