Senior captain Elsa Daulerio became the 22nd player in Bates women's basketball history to score 1,000 career points when the Bobcats defeated the University of Southern Maine by a score of 70-66 in an overtime thriller on Tuesday. Daulerio (Harpswell, Maine) had 14 points at the end of regulation on Tuesday, giving her 999 for her career. With the game tied at 66 and 29 seconds remaining in overtime, senior Sophie Spolter drove to the hoop and missed a tough shot in traffic. Daulerio was there for the rebound and her follow attempt was good, giving her 1,001 career points. She and her mother Adrienne Shibles ‘91 are now both members of the 1,000-point club at Bates, and are believed to be only the second mother-daughter combination in college basketball history to reach this milestone for the same school. Daulerio added eight points on Sunday, surpassing Shibles on the all-time list. Shibles finished her Bates career with 1,005 points and Daulerio now has 1,009 points and counting, the 20th-most in Bates women’s basketball history.
