Bates women's squash team's No. 1 player, Nessrine Ariffin, continued her excellent senior season with wins last weekend over opponents from Franklin & Marshall, Middlebury and Dartmouth.
A one-time All-American and three-time All-NESCAC performer, Ariffin (Penang, Malaysia) was later named NESCAC Women's Squash Player of the Week, the New England Small College Athletic Conference announced on Monday.
Ariffin earned a tough 3-2 win (12-14, 11-6, 10-12, 11-4, 11-9) over Franklin & Marshall's Sherilyn Yang before defeating Middlebury's Saskia Pownall-Gray, 3-1 (11-7, 11-0, 8-11, 11-9), on Saturday in the Middlebury Round Robin. On Sunday at Dartmouth, Ariffin put away the host Big Green's No. 1 player in three games, 11-8, 11-6, 11-3.
