Senior captain Alex Bedard (Amherst, N.H.) won state titles in all three breaststroke events at the Maine State Meet at Bowdoin, Nov. 30-Dec. 1, 2018. Bedard won the 50 breaststroke (26.38) as well as the 100 breast (58.11) and 200 breast (2:08.81). 

He also helped the Bates men's team lead off Saturday's portion of the meet with a 1-2 sweep in the 200-yard medley relay. First-year Dan Waterland (Chadds Ford, Pa.) led off the winning team, followed by Bedard, senior Matthew Puckace (Madison, Ohio) and senior Rory Collins (Brookfield, Conn.) for a time of 1:36.96.

The Bates men's team scored 1,162 points, well ahead of second-place Colby (887.5). Bowdoin (624.5) was third, followed by Maine (431), Maine Maritime (67), St. Joseph's (52) and the University of New England (20).
