Sandra Goff begins her tenure as Bates College's Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) with the 2026-27 academic year. She also serves as the faculty liaison for the Bates field hockey program.
Goff is an Associate Professor of Economics and Co-Chair of the Economics Department at Bates. An experimental and behavioral economist, she has taught courses including Behavioral Economics, Experimental Economics, Evolutionary Economics, Introduction to Microeconomics, Statistical Methods, and the Study and Practice of Human Cooperation.
She also leads the Goff Lab for Experimental Economics (GLEE), a teaching and research lab at Bates. Her research uses experimental methods and agent-based computational models to explore prosocial economic behavior, with work examining charitable giving and cooperation, environmental philanthropy, ethical consumption, and attitudes toward markets and government intervention.
As Faculty Athletics Representative, Goff serves as a liaison between the faculty, the Department of Athletics, and Bates student-athletes, supporting the student-athlete experience and the integration of academics and athletics within the broader educational mission of the College.
