Chris McKibben

Chris McKibben joined the Bobcats in August 2022 after serving as Associate Director of Athletics for Communications and Operations at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, N.J. Chris was a key facilitator at Georgian Court, focusing specifically on the promotion of GCU’s student-athletes, coaching staff, and overall academic and athletic success. Since joining the Lions’ in 2008, McKibben played a vital role in the expansion of a department of seven athletic offerings (under 100 total student-athletes) to one consisting of 14 programs and nearly 300 student-athletes.

Involved in a litany of areas within the department, McKibben oversaw facility operations, game day management, game scheduling, website design and maintenance, student employment, and special events for the Lions, which include the Georgian Court annual golf outing, homecoming celebration, and end-of -year awards banquet.

The 17-year veteran served as lead sports information director for over 25 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference postseason tournaments during his tenure, all hosted on the expansive campus of Georgian Court.

A member of College Sports Communicators, McKibben has served on a number of NCAA committees during his career, including the National Committee on Women’s Athletics, Woman of the Year Selection Committee, and the Student-Athletes with Disabilities Subcommittee.

“Bates’ focus and commitment to diversity and inclusion is something that certainly stood out to me as I educated myself during the interview process," McKibben said. "Coming from a Sisters of Mercy institution that practices the Mercy core values of justice, compassion, integrity, respect, and service, the Bates mission statement certainly rings true.”

Prior to entering the realm of collegiate athletics, McKibben served the American Red Cross, coordinating donor recruitment activities throughout New Jersey. He also served as Director of Media Relations for the New Britain (Conn.) Rock Cats (now Hartford Yard Goats), the then-AA minor league affiliate of the Minnesota Twins.

A native of Middletown, N.J., McKibben is no stranger to New England as he is a graduate of the University of Southern Maine. He currently resides in Freeport.
