Caroline Dodd joined the Bates College coaching staff in September 2024 as assistant men's and women's Nordic skiing coach.
"I am thrilled to join the Bobcats as the new Nordic assistant coach," Dodd said. "As a former student-athlete and recent coach in the USCSA, I am eager to take on new challenges in the EISA. I am looking forward to learning from Coach Upham's mentorship and working with our impressive student-athletes."
Prior to coming to Bates, Dodd served two seasons as the assistant coach for the Clarkson University (N.Y.) cross country and Nordic ski teams, helping lead the men's Nordic team to victory in the 2024 USCSA National Championships.
Caroline was a ski instructor at Mt. Van Hoevenberg (Lake Placid, N.Y.) for three seasons (2019-2022). She spent two years as the Nordic Event Coordinator for the Olympic Regional Development Authority, coordinating events including USA Nordic Olympic Trials, USSS Supertour, and US Biathlon Nationals.
Dodd also founded the Keene Central School (N.Y.) Nordic ski team, which in its inaugural season, sent one of its student-athletes to the New York State Championships.
Caroline spent three seasons competing for the Cornell University Club Nordic Ski Team, where she finished with a career-best 12th place in the freestyle sprint and 17th place overall at the 2019 USCSA National Championships. She was a captain in her junior and senior years, helping the team with everything from lodging and travel to coaching and competition.
A 2019 graduate of Cornell with a degree in Environmental and Sustainability Sciences, Dodd went on to earn her Master of Science from Clarkson in Environmental Policy, focusing on climate justice and sustainable planning systems.
