Shapiro's nine career saves tops the previous career record of six, which was shared by Sprague, Mike Antonellis '13 and Rob DiFranco '16.... Shapiro led Bates with 15 appearances, posting a 1-1 record with a team-best 1.25 ERA in 21.2 innings pitched.... He allowed just three earned runs and 13 hits on the season, walking 10 and striking out 27.... Opponents hit just .176 on the season against Shapiro.... Led the team with three saves.... Allowed just one run in 8.1 innings pitched.... Struck out 15 batters and held opponents to a .115 batting average, the lowest on the team.... Struck out two in a scoreless inning of work in Bates' 10-4 win at Endicott (March 26).... Struck out three and earned the save with 1.1 innings of scoreless work in Bates' 4-3 win over Colby (March 30).... Tossed two innings of shutout ball, striking out three along the way to earn the win in Bates' 3-2 victory over Bowdoin (April 7).... Struck out two in a scoreless inning of work in Bates' 9-4 win over Fisher (April 17).... Earned the save with an inning and a third of shutout ball, striking out two along the way in Bates' 4-1 win over Trinity (April 22).... Picked up the save with a shutout inning, striking out one in Bates' 6-5 win at Plymouth State (April 24).... Struck out both batters he faced in Bates' 14-1 win at Maine-Farmington (May 4).... 2016: Appeared in 16 games with 14 starts.... Went 13-49 at the plate on the season.... Hit .265/.294/.367 on the year.... Scored three runs, tallied a double, two triples and eight runs batted in.... Did not make an error in the field.... In season debut, went 2-5 with a run scored, a triple, and three runs batted in in Bates' 12-11 win at Endicott (March 29).... Went 1-2 with a walk against Tufts (April 2).... Went 2-6 with two runs scored and a double in Bates' doubleheader sweep of Bowdoin (April 9).... Went 2-5 with a run batted in against Southern Maine (May 4).... Went 2-4 with a triple, three runs batted in, and a stolen base in Bates' 11-4 win over Bowdoin (May 6).... Went 1-3 with a run batted in in Bates' 3-2 win over Williams (May 7).... Also pitched an inning of shutout ball and a recorded a strikeout against Bowdoin (April 8).
2015: Appeared in 13 games with five starts.... Collected five hits in 22 at bats, batting .227 with an on-base percentage of .320.... Scored five runs... On the mound, pitched three innings in relief.... Tossed a scoreless inning vs. Southern Maine (Apr. 23).
