What does leadership mean to you?
Someone who can set a great example, be disciplined in their actions and training, someone who listens to their team and takes feedback positively, and someone who actively lifts up their team and makes everyone better.

What experience—big or small—has made a surprising impact on you?
Being a captain on my high school team. It taught me how to work with others positively in order to achieve something. Especially because everyone was at different skill levels it took a lot to bring people together.

What’s a failure or setback that taught you something valuable?
One summer swim meet, I barely missed an important time that I thought could make or break my swimming career. I moved on and realized that in the grand scheme of things, the time didn’t matter at all, what mattered more was how I could improve from that moment, growing more resilient and looking forward rather than regretting.

What’s a value or principle you try to live by?
I try to live by the principle of hard work, and that your actions speak louder than your words.

What’s something about you that might surprise people?
I can cook.
