place at Minnesota's Nordic Ski State Meet ‘26 ...  Jefferson High School Athena Award winner  earned 18 high school varsity letters.

What does leadership mean to you?
To me, leadership means setting example through my actions. It's about being someone others can count on, encouraging your teammates, and helping create a positive environment where everyone feels supported and motivated to improve.

What experience—big or small—has made a surprising impact on you?
Racing at Nationals in Utah last year in unusually warm conditions made me realize how climate change is already affecting the sport I love. After crashing, breaking a ski, and getting a concussion, I saw firsthand how changing winters are impacting Nordic skiing. That experience sparked my interest in environmental science and renewable energy, and I hope to use my future work to help protect the outdoors.

What’s a failure or setback that taught you something valuable?
I started Nordic skiing later than many of my teammates, and for a long time I felt like I was always trying to catch up. It taught me that progress isn't about comparing yourself to others, it's about consistently improving. That mindset has helped me stay patient, trust the process, and believe in my long term potential.

What’s a value or principle you try to live by?
I believe everything happens for a reason. Even when things don't go as planned, I try to trust that every challenge is teaching me something or leading me toward a better opportunity. That mindset helps me stay positive and open minded throughout all the challenges in my life I face.

What’s something about you that might surprise people?
Outside of skiing, one of my favorite things is exploring. Whether it's traveling somewhere new or spending the day hiking or camping, I love being outdoors and experiencing new places.
