2008-2009: Champion along with doubles partnerAmrit Rupasinghe, of the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis DoublesChampionship, where they defeated Bowdoin doubles team, Jamie Neelyand Oscar Pena in the finals (6-4, 5-7, 6-4). This was the secondNCAA tennis crown overall (Will Boe-Wiegaard won the singles titlein 2006) for Bates.... Along with winning the NCAA DoublesChampionship, Stein was also a finalist in the NCAA singlesChampionship, where he was defeated by Emory University's MichaelGoodwin, 7-5, 5-7, 6-1, and was the third Bates player to reach anNCAA Men's final.... Named to All-NESCAC Honors for the second yearin a row for doubles and third year for singles; earning First Teamhonors for doubles with partner Amrit Rupasinghe, and First Teamhonors for singles.... Stein and Rupasinghe also won theIntercollegiate Tennis Association New England Championshipsearlier that year in late September of 2008, defeating Bowdoin pairStephen Sullivan and Alex White. Their win at the ITA New EnglandChampionships earned them a bid and a number two seed in the ITANational Small College Championship in October, where the twofinished in fourth place after being defeated by WashingtonUniversity's Charlie Cutler and Chris Hoeland 7-6(2), 6-4.

2008: Co-captain...Doubles semifinalist in NCAADivision III Championships, along with teammate, AmritRupasinghe.... Named to Second Team All-NESCAC as both asingles player and as a doubles team player, along withRupasinghe.... Stein and Rupasinghe teamed up to go 20-9 asBates' top doubles pair this year, achieving a No. 3 rankingin the Northeast, as determined by the Intercollegiate TennisAssociation.... Stein assembled a 17-9 record in singles this yearand is currently the No. 7 ranked singles player in theNortheast.... Bates went 9-0 against Babson in February; Stein andAmrit Rupasinghe had an 8-2 victory at first doubles over BeaversWalt Sea and Ben Edick and Stein defeated AlexKamergorodsky 6-3, 6-2 at first singles.... In an 8-1 Bates victoryover MIT in March, Stein won at No. 1 singles and teamed upwith Amrit Rupasinghe to win at No. 1 singles.... Named teamcaptain for 2008-09 season.... Stein contributed to Bates' 9-0shutout over Brandeis in March as he won at No. 1 singlesand teamed up with Amrit Rupasinghe to defeat Brandeis's SimonMiller and Scott Schulman in a hotly contested No. 1 doublesmatchup, 9-8 (7).... Against Colby in March, paced the Bobcats witha 6-1, 6-1 victory over Bryan Brown at No. 1 singles and an 8-2 winwith sophomore Amrit Rupasinghe at No. 1 doubles.

2007: Named to the All-NESCAC Men's TennisSecond Team in singles.... Moved from playing No. 5 singles and No.3 doubles as a first-year student to playing either No. 1 or No. 2singles, plus No. 1 doubles, all year. At singles, Stein amassed adual-match record of 11-2.
