What does leadership mean to you?
Leadership means the ability to be reliable, no matter what.

What experience—big or small—has made a surprising impact on you?
I've split time between the US and Japan, especially when I was younger, and experienced how different the two cultures are. And how I've picked up traits from each.

What’s a failure or setback that taught you something valuable?
When I tore the ligaments in my wrist in the middle of my 2026 spring season, I didn't just lose the rest of the spring. I lost everything I was working toward. Coming back to training after I was cleared was humbling; I couldn't touch the weights I used to lift with ease. But throughout that journey, I learned the power of patience. If I wanted to reach my goals I had to slowly build my way back up.

What’s a value or principle you try to live by?
Gratitude is one of the biggest principles I live by, especially in sports. I constantly remind myself how truly lucky I am that one of the biggest stressors in my life is one I've chosen. Nobody forces onto the erg in the morning or into another set of squats when my legs are shot. It's such a privilege to be in this position. That mindset keeps me grateful for every workout and every hard piece, since I chose it, and not everyone gets that choice.

What’s something about you that might surprise people?
I love music and constantly surround myself with it.
