What does leadership mean to you? To me, leadership means the ability to have other people trust in you to achieve a common goal. This encompasses being empathetic, dependable, hardworking, and always trying to learn and grow not only be better for yourself but for your entire team too.

What experience—big or small—has made a surprising impact on you?
An experience that had made a big impact on me was my high school's silent senior retreat. It gave me an opportunity to take a break from everything that was happening in my life, and it reminded me what is truly important in life. This experience made a huge impact on me, and I try to live by its values everyday.

What’s a failure or setback that taught you something valuable?
I have learned the value of resilience and hard work through the setback of not making the JV field hockey team my freshman year. A lot of my previous club teammates had and I was really disappointed, so I put in a lot of work over the next summer and I was one of the two people who had made the varsity team the following year as a sophomore. I learned the value of hard work and perseverance, and I have taken these lessons with me to this day.

What’s a value or principle you try to live by?
A principle that I try to live by is the idea of being a part of something bigger than yourself. This means showing up not only for yourself but also for others; this principle reminds me of the importance of family, community, hard work, and humility.

What’s something about yo,u that might surprise people?
I am really good at mini golf but terrible at actual golf.
