What does leadership mean to you?
Leadership to me means setting an example for your team, always applying yourself regardless of who's watching, and encouraging people to work harder. Not pressuring teammates but giving them drive.

What experience—big or small—has made a surprising impact on you?
Being coached by my mom. She makes me want to be better and I always want to make her proud. She is my biggest fan.

What’s a failure or setback that taught you something valuable?
One time, at a recruiting clinic, I did horribly. I played terribly and could not figure out why. I got a ton of mental block from it and had a really hard time gaining my confidence back. I learned that failure is just redirection and that I won't always be in tip-top shape. I had to learn to deal with struggling. Struggle and setback is natural - it is a part of playing and that it will only help me to persevere. That way, the next time it happens, it doesn't feel so scary.

What’s a value or principle you try to live by?
Work Hard, Be Kind. If I don't score a single goal, but I worked the hardest I could, I would still be proud. I love field hockey for playing with a team. If I don't treat my team and coaches well, I disrespect my sport.

What’s something about you that might surprise people?
I love reading ... I am obsessed with it.
