Career: Pender's 11 All-Americas are the most by a male athlete in college history, surpassing 10-time All-America track and field star David Pless.
2017-18: Bates Male Athlete of the Year.... Earned five All-America honors at the NCAA Championships, helping Bates finish 10th in the 400-yard medley relay, 12th in the 200-yard medley relay, 14th in the 400-yard freestyle relay and 14th in the 800-yard freestyle relay.... Pender earned individual All-America honors with a 12th place finish in the 100-yard freestyle.
2016-17: Received CSCAA Scholar All-America honors, recognizing students that have achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and have participated in their respective NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.... Earned All-America honors in the 100-yard freestyle (11th), 200-yard medley relay (12th), 400-yard medley relay (13th) and the 100-yard butterfly at the NCAA Championships.... Pender became the first Bates male individual All-American since Dave Collins went top 16 in the 200 breaststroke in 1991.... Pender's three All-NESCAC honors gives him 10 in his career.... He won the conference title in the 100-yard freestyle, his second first-place finish at a NESCAC championship meet, and also took third place in the 200 free.... Pender also helped Bates finish third in the 200 medley relay.
2015-16: Claimed first place at the NESCAC Championships in the 50 freestyle in 20.73 seconds, an NCAA B-cut time and a new Bates record. ... Came within 0.08 seconds of winning a second individual conference title, placing second in the 100 freestyle in a Bates-record 45.27 seconds.... Second place in 200 freestyle at NESCAC Championships, lowering own Bates record with a 1:40.40 performance.... Helped claim second place (All-NESCAC) and school record in 400 freestyle relay at NESCAC Championships.... Helped claim third place (All-NESCAC) and set school record in 200 freestyle relay at NESCAC Championships.
2014-15: Part of the largest contingent of Bates male swimmers ever at the NCAA Championships -- with Matt Gagne, Andrew Briggs and Riley Ewing -- resulted in Honorable Mention All-America honors for all four men in two relays, the 200 and 400 medley, for finishing 14th and 12th in the nation, respectively. Pender and teammates combined for a 37th-place national finish.... Helped Bates place third (All-NESCAC) in 200 freestyle relay.... Helped Bates place third (All-NESCAC) in 200 medley relay.
