HADLEY, Mass. -- Bates volleyball senior middle blocker Sofia Castiglioni is the NESCAC Co-Player of the Week, as announced Monday by the New England Small College Athletic Conference.

Castiglioni (Oakland, Calif.) dominated in the middle during a 3-0 week for the Bobcats, averaging 2.50 kills per set with a hitting percentage of .483. She averaged 0.83 blocks per set on the week, including six blocks to go along with 10 kills in Saturday's 3-1 win over Williams. It marked the first win over the Ephs for Bates volleyball since 1999.

Earlier in the week, Castiglioni recorded a season-high 12 kills with a hitting percentage of .500 as Bates won a 3-2 thriller over the University of New England.

The Bobcats are off to a 7-0 start, keyed by the two best middle blockers in the NESCAC, as Castiglioni (.416) and teammate Anaïs Reneaum '28 (.432) rank second and first, respectively, in the conference in hitting percentage.

Castiglioni shares NESCAC Player of the Week honors with Bowdoin's Alison Smith. She is the first Bobcat to earn the conference's player of the week award since Skye Higashihara '28 in 2024.

Bates is back in action on Friday when the Bobcats welcome No. 17 nationally ranked Tufts to Underhill Arena.
