AMHERST, Mass. — No. 20 Amherst won the doubles point and swept singles play to secure a 7–0 NESCAC victory over Bates on Sunday.
Bates picked up a strong result at the top doubles spot, where Phillippe Kosyagin and Theo Sardain earned a 6–4 win over Lukas Frangenberg and Andreas Sillaste. Amherst, however, claimed the No. 2 and No. 3 matches to take a 1–0 lead into singles.
In singles, the Mammoths (8-4, 5-2 NESCAC) controlled play across the lineup, winning all six matches in straight sets. Sillaste defeated Kosyagin at No. 1, while George Chaidemenos (vs. Eric Diop) and Frangenberg (vs. Sardain) added wins at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively. Rex Harrison (vs. Rocco Regnier), Albert Hu (vs. Nicolas Ozer), and Ronald James Gualario (vs. James Sacco) completed the sweep for Amherst at Nos. 4 through 6.
The Bobcats (4-9, 2-6 NESCAC) return to action Saturday at 10:00 a.m. with another NESCAC road match, this time at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn.
