Bates (4-8, 2-5 NESCAC), ranked No. 50 nationally, took control early by claiming two of three doubles matches before winning five of six singles contests to pull away from No. 44 Hamilton (7-6, 1-5 NESCAC).
The Bobcats opened with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. The top pairing of
Phillippe Kosyagin and
Theo Sardain earned a 6–2 victory, while
Nicolas Ozer and
James Sacco matched that scoreline at No. 3 to give Bates a 1-0 lead heading into singles.
From there, Bates controlled the match.
Kosyagin extended the lead at No. 1 singles with a straight-sets win (6-3, 7-6), and Sardain followed with a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 3.
Rocco Regnier delivered a key comeback at No. 4 singles, rebounding from a first-set tiebreak loss to win 6–7, 6–2, 6–2, while Ozer closed out a 7–6, 6–3 decision at No. 5 to clinch the team victory.
Sacco capped the afternoon with a three-set win at No. 6, rallying for a 4–6, 7–6, 6–4 triumph to round out the 6–1 final.
The Bobcats, which now own the eight-seed in the NESCAC standings, will look to build on Saturday's momentum as they head to No. 20 Amherst for a Sunday conference tilt. Start time is set for noon.
