NEW LONDON, Conn. -- A second-half surge wasn't quite enough for No. 11 Bates women's basketball Friday night, as the Bobcats saw a seven-game winning streak come to an end with a 56–51 NESCAC loss at Connecticut College.
Bates (20–3, 7–2 NESCAC) erased a 12-point halftime deficit with its best quarter of the night, outscoring the Camels 20–11 in the third to pull within three entering the final 10 minutes. The Bobcats briefly drew within one twice down the stretch but were unable to regain the lead.
After an opening quarter that ended in an 11-11 stalemate, Connecticut College seized momentum by doubling Bates up in the second (24-12), shooting 50 percent (7-for-14) from the field and holding Bates to 5-of-18 (28%) from the floor. The Camels carried a 35–23 advantage into halftime, their largest lead of the night.
Bates responded immediately after the break.
Lily Brown scored seven points in the third quarter, and the Bobcats held Connecticut College (14-10, 5-5 NESCAC) without a field goal for nearly five minutes (5:13) during a key stretch, cutting the deficit to 46-43 entering the fourth.
The teams traded baskets in a defensive final frame.
Elsa Daulerio scored six points in the last five minutes, twice pulling Bates within a single possession, but Connecticut College sealed the game at the free-throw line in the final seconds.
Daulerio led Bates with 21 points and nine rebounds, scoring 11 of those points in the second half. The senior captain also collected four blocks on the night. Reigning NESCAC Player of the Week,
Sarah Hughes, added 10 points and six rebounds, while Brown chipped in nine points in the sophomore's 18 minutes off the bench.
Rookie Sofia Tavarez (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) paced the Camels with a game-high 31 points, accounting for more than half of Connecticut College's offense.
The garnet and white concludes the 2025–26 regular season on Sunday, traveling to Tufts University for a 1 p.m. tip.
