LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Bates men's lacrosse senior long stick midfielder
Ben Miller earned USILA Honorable Mention All-America honors, as announced Thursday by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association.
Miller (Scarsdale, N.Y.) is the first long stick midfielder in program history to be named USILA All-America, and the 16th Bobcat overall since
Patrick Gaughan '02 made history in 2002 as the men's lacrosse team's first All-American. He is one of just three NESCAC long stick midfielders this year to be recognized by the USILA.
This honor comes on the heels of Miller also being named a USA Lacrosse Honorable Mention All-America. He led the NESCAC with 2.13 caused turnovers per game and was 10th in the conference in ground balls, averaging four per game. Miller also tallied a career-high nine goals while dishing out a pair of assists.
Some of Miller's top performances included: four caused turnovers and four ground balls in a 14-8 win over Hamilton, three caused turnovers and seven ground balls in an 11-10 win over Williams, two goals, a season-high 10 ground balls, and two caused turnovers in a 14-10 win over Connecticut College, and four caused turnovers to go along with four ground balls against Amherst.
