Bobcats Wrap Up Special Season With Loss to No. 2 Seed Tufts in NESCAC Women's Lacrosse Quarters

MEDFORD, Mass. -- Experiencing its first taste of the postseason in six years, Bates College saw its memorable 2025 season come to a close Saturday as the Bobcats, playing as the No. 7 seed in the NESCAC Women's Lacrosse Championship Tournament, dropped a 23-3 decision to No. 2 Tufts in the quarterfinal round.

The Jumbos (15-1) erupted for nine goals in the first quarter and never looked back, overwhelming the Bobcats (7-9) with a relentless offensive attack. Tufts outshot Bates 47-13, forced 25 turnovers, and won 22 draw controls to just six for the visitors.

Allie Zorn (Jr.) led a balanced Tufts offense with four goals, pushing her season total to 50. Schuyler Lloyd (So.) added three goals, while Esme Coes (Fy.), Madeline Delaney (Gr.), Ella Lesperance (Sr.), and Margie Carden (Sr.) each scored twice. Lesperance had a game-high six points, including four assists, while 14 different Jumbos found the back of the net.

Sophomore Grace Cassin netted two of the Bobcats' three tallies, providing the sophomore an even 20 goals on the season. Laci Raveis (So.) also poured in her team-leading 33rd goal of the year in the effort.

The Tufts defense was equally impressive, holding Bates to just seven shots on goal and allowing no free-position attempts. Genna Gibbons (Sr.) dominated the draw circle with eight draw controls, and the team was a perfect 18-for-18 on clear attempts.

Goalkeepers Pascale de Buren (30:00), Sophie Powless (15:00), and Devon Chipman (15:00) combined for four saves for Tufts, while Bates goalies Raegan White (38:48, eight saves) and Molly Urbonas (21:12, seven saves) made 15 stops under heavy pressure for the Bobcats.

Tufts now moves on to face No. 3 Colby in next Saturday's semifinals (hosted by Middlebury College) after the Mules edged No. 6 Trinity, 9-8.
