WATERVILLE, Maine -- Sophomore
Sarah Palmer broke a second school record and the Bates women's swimming and diving team placed eighth at the NESCAC Championships, which concluded Sunday at Colby College.
The Bobcats tallied 579 points as a team, finishing ahead of Connecticut College, Wesleyan, and Trinity.
Sunday Highlights
- A day after breaking the Bates record in the 100-yard breaststroke, Palmer (Brunswick, Maine) broke her own school record in the 200-yard breaststroke with an NCAA 'B' Cut time of 2:17.46 in the championship final, good for fourth place.
- Senior captain Stephanie Tropper (Solon, Ohio) placed sixth in the 1,650-yard freestyle with an NCAA "B" Cut time of 17:19.16, while sophomore Cora Zuwallack (East Falmouth, Mass.) took seventh in 17:30.65.
- Sophomore Sophia Clausman (Edina, Minn.) finished fifth in the preconsolation final of the 200-yard backstroke in 2:08.49 after recording a prelims time of 2:08.34.
- Sophomore Amber Zeng (South Windsor, Conn.) took eighth in the consolation final of the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:28.31 after recording a prelims time of 2:26.01.
- Junior Lily Barisonek (New Vernon, N.J.) placed second in the preconsolation final of the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:26.13.
- Junior Emma Burke (New Hartford, N.Y.) took third in the preconsolation final of the 200-yard butterfly in 2:07.92.
- The 400-yard freestyle relay team of sophomore Emily Kalvaitis (Darien, Conn.), first-year Kendall Keshen (Santa Barbara, Calif.), first-year Taylor Rolefson (Piedmont, Calif.), and Tropper beat their seed time by more than five seconds on their way to a 10th place finish in 3:32.18.
