LEWISTON, Maine -- Ten Tarbell Pool records fell Saturday as the Bates women's swimming and diving team competed in their annual CBB Meet with Colby and Bowdoin.
The Bobcats finished third, as the Mules and Polar Bears brought their A games. Despite the final results, the Bobcats still turned in some impressive performances.
Meet Highlights
- Senior captain Stephanie Tropper (Solon, Ohio) won the 200-yard freestyle, breaking the Tarbell Pool record with a personal-best time of 1:52.03. She was the runner-up in both the 100-yard freestyle and the 1,000-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 52.52 seconds in the former and in 10:22.17 in the latter. Both times were personal bests.
- Sophomore Sarah Palmer (Brunswick, Maine) won the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:18.78 and was runner-up in the 100-yard breaststroke with a personal-best time of 1:03.30.
- The Bates 200-yard medley relay team of first-year Erin Barisonek (New Vernon, N.J.), Palmer, sophomore Emily Kalvaitis (Darien, Conn.), and junior Lianna Rosman (Bethesda, Md.) placed second out of seven teams with a time of 1:45.26.
- Sophomore Amber Zeng (South Windsor, Conn.) took third in the 100-yard breaststroke with a personal-record time of 1:05.05. Zeng impressed in the 200-yard breaststroke as well, placing fourth with a personal-record time of 2:22.95.
- First-year Kendall Keshen (Santa Barbara, Calif.) grabbed fourth in the 200-yard IM in 2:12.46.
The women's swimming and diving team returns to action Feb. 13-16 when they compete at the NESCAC Championships, hosted this year by Colby.
