LEWISTON, Maine — Bates men's basketball stayed perfect on Sunday afternoon, using a blistering first half and another deep, balanced performance to power past UMaine-Presque Isle 94–64 at Alumni Gym. The Bobcats improve to 6–0, marking the program's best start since beginning the 2014–15 season with seven straight wins.
Bates struck first and never trailed, opening the game on a 6–0 run and shooting 53 percent in the first half. The Bobcats closed the period on an 11–3 surge to take a 50–35 lead into the break.
Bates finished with 50 points in the paint, 25 points off turnovers, and 52 points from its bench, with all 17 players seeing the floor.
Aidan Lawlor provided a spark after halftime, hitting three three-pointers and scoring all 11 of his points in just six minutes of action.
Peter Psyhogeos contributed 12 points, four rebounds, and a pair of steals, while
Jamari Robinson added 10 points on a 4-for-8 showing from the floor.
Babacar Pouye delivered 14 points on 6-for-10 shooting along with nine rebounds to pace the victors.
Brady Coyne added 10 points and eight boards,
Elliott Cravitz scored seven with three steals.
Sean O'Leary posted seven points and two helpers, and
Keenan Sparks contributed four points, five rebounds, two steals, and a pair of blocks.
Reserves
Aydan Gedeon-Hope (2:50) and
Charlie Williams (0:46) brought the house down with respective fast-break dunks late in the second half to tie a bow on the rout.
Bates now looks to carry its momentum into December as the garnet and white opens the second month of the season with a visit to Bowdoin this Wednesday for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference tilt.
