Bates Student-Athletes Place 4th Nationally Across Division III For Service Hours in Final Helper Helper Standings

Seven Bobcat Programs Rank in National Top-10 in Respective Sports

LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates College student-athletes registered just short of 2,900 hours of service, placing the Bobcats 4th-overall nationally in the final Helper Helper Division III poll of the 2023-24 campaign.

With 2,878 total hours spanning 38 community organizations and 90 various service opportunities, Bates joined Salisbury University, George Fox University, SUNY Oswego, Saint Mary's University of Minnesota, Shenandoah University, New Jersey City University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and Cornell College to round out the Top-9 as DIII institutions combined for 22,689 total service hours.

Making its Helper Helper debut this past autumn, the Bobcats started off out hot during fall semester as the garnet-and-white trailed only Salisbury and SUNY Oswego nationally in the NCAA ® & Helper Helper Service Challenge. Overall, Bates's service resulted in an total economic impact of $91,523 from July 1, 2023-present with a 60% participation rate among 493 Bobcat student-athletes registered on the Helper-Helper app.

Bates College men's and women's swimming & diving topped all Bobcat athletic programs with 703 service hours as a team. Men's lacrosse (516 hours), field hockey (375), softball (346), and women's volleyball (269) round out the department's Top-5.
